When we were approached earlier this year and asked to create a media strategy to support the launch of the Hull UK City of Culture 2017 season 1 programme, it was met with great excitement in the office! As a regional media agency, based in Yorkshire, we jumped at the chance to be part of a unique project to celebrate the essence and people of a great Northern city.

With a creative campaign developed by Jaywing, which centres around the theme of ‘Everyone back to ours’, we were tasked with creating a media strategy to support the media launch of the programme to both the media and consumers.

Focusing on key regional hubs across the north with a tightly targeted Kings Cross element, activity was centred around the media launch taking place in Hull on 22nd September. The standout creative with it bright clash of colours has been brought to life across a range of high impact out of home sites such as the M-vision screen at Trinity Leeds; digital and static 6 sheets to deliver a good level of coverage, key national press titles and a brilliant 60 second film which is being played out across carefully targeted cinema venues in the north and London over a 6-week period.
